MARÍA

Hello! I’m María. The day my four kids went to school for the first time in France, I experienced a reality many moms know: the culmination of years spent dedicating myself entirely to my family. It came unexpectedly, bringing the new opportunity to have uninterrupted time to myself. I felt full of energy!

Whether through my wedding invitation business, having fun with my kids, or decorating one of the fifteen homes we've lived in since getting married, I've always sought a creative outlet, and I've never been afraid of a can of paint. With this mindset, I began painting things I loved, things that are close to my heart, and things I wanted my kids to never forget about their roots. One thing led to another, and I started using all my creative skills to design from my paintings, print fabrics from my designs, and create MARÍA. Everything I create carries a piece of Guatemala, my home country. Each design tells a story, and its purpose is to help you live a life full of life and color—plus, the energy that brings.

MARÍA is a small design and textile business that loves authenticity, comfort, and quality, expressed through the use of natural fibers, attention to detail, and a constant drive for self-love. These are the pillars that guide me, without ever leaving behind the colorful personality that is present in each design. I created MARÍA because I truly believe that  there is power in everyday objects we love and each piece of clothing we wear helps us make a difference and leave an impression. They all allow us to showcase our values, tastes, and personality. It’s a channel for expression and a continuous journey toward self-care and love.

My mission is to design for dopamine lovers and create fabrics and garments that simplify your life and enhance your personality; pieces that give you confidence and comfort. Fabrics that allow creative minds to open up a therapeutic space by creating to their liking and adding a personal and more meaningful touch to their days.
